Agricultural Trading Company Raises £18M to Build Climate-Resilient Supply Chain Platform
London-based Agrova has raised £18 million to build a technology platform connecting climate-resilient agricultural producers with global food companies seeking supply chain diversification and carbon measurement capabilities.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Agrova, a London and Nairobi-based agricultural commodity trading and technology company, has closed an £18 million Series A funding round led by Beazley Ventures and the British International Investment fund, with participation from Astanor Ventures and five family offices with agricultural investment backgrounds.\n\nThe funding will accelerate the development and rollout of Agrova's supply chain platform, which uses satellite data, on-farm IoT sensors, and AI to provide commodity buyers with verified information about the climate resilience characteristics, carbon footprint, and traceability of agricultural commodities sourced from smallholder and mid-scale farming operations in Sub-Saharan Africa.\n\nAgrova co-founder and CEO Dr. Amara Osei-Bonsu explained the market opportunity: "The combination of climate change, shifting consumer expectations around sustainability, and new mandatory disclosure requirements is forcing large food companies to fundamentally rethink how they source agricultural commodities. They need supply chains that are both climate-resilient — reliable despite weather variability — and climate-transparent, providing the carbon and biodiversity data that disclosure frameworks require. We provide both.\n\n"Our platform aggregates supply from 12,000 farmers across Kenya, Ethiopia, and Ivory Coast, provides real-time growing condition monitoring, and delivers verified sustainability credentials that buyers can use directly in their own ESG reporting."\n\nAgrova processes approximately 180,000 tonnes of agricultural commodities annually, primarily coffee, sesame, and specialty grains. The Series A will fund expansion into Tanzania, Ghana, and Zambia and the development of a climate-adjusted commodity futures product in partnership with a major exchange.
